In 2009, Morocco committed itself to producing 2,000 megawatts of solar power projects at a cost of US$9 billion. The project is expected to be operational by 2020, and by that time, the project will produce electricity that will meet 42% of the electricity demand in Morocco.
Besson pointed out that Paris and Rabat will seal the agreement reached before the end of the year, mainly due to the long-term purchase of clean electricity from Morocco. France, Spain and Morocco will also cooperate to promote their electrical interconnection networks. The conference plan for this issue will be held at the end of the year.
