American scientists invent "power generation shoes" to charge mobile phones

According to foreign reports, a research team at the University of Wisconsin in the United States has invented a new method of using human motion to generate electricity, making it possible to charge mobile phones by walking.

Charging through human motion has been used on some devices that consume less energy, including watches and some sensors. However, similar technologies have not been able to use such energy-consuming devices as mobile phones.

According to an article published by the University of Wisconsin research team in the journal Nature-Communications, the power-generating device they invented can be installed in shoes. During the walk, the kinetic energy of numerous tiny conductive droplets in the device is converted into current.

Researchers say that the amount of power generated is enough to charge a standard cell phone or handheld computer.

How to connect the power generation device and the mobile phone is obviously a challenge. One way is to plug a USB cable into the shoe. However, this method may not be practical.

Scientists at the University of Wisconsin proposed a more sophisticated method of connecting the power-consuming device and the most power-consuming part of the phone to each other in a shoe, and then connecting the device to the handheld part of the phone through a short-range wireless transmission system such as Bluetooth.
