India plans to develop solar unmanned aerial vehicle

According to foreign media reports, the Indian government plans to develop solar unmanned aerial vehicles, which can fly for at least one month in all weather conditions.

Ravi Gupta, spokesman for the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), said: "We hope to develop a solar unmanned aerial vehicle that can fly long distances and enhance scientific research and technology in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles."

Gupta pointed out that this UAV will be designed and developed in accordance with the requirements of long-range flight and continuous flight for one month.

It will use specially designed solar panels to enable uninterrupted flight even at night and in rainy conditions.

Given the payload and the nature of the mission, the aircraft's fuselage will be very light, but very strong, able to cope with a variety of extreme weather.

According to DRDO officials, this kind of unmanned aerial vehicle can provide real-time information and data in its area through special equipment.

The Rustom-1 unmanned aerial vehicle developed by DRDO can fly for 24 to 36 hours in the air, while Nishant can carry a 45-kilo payload for 5 hours at low altitude.

These UAVs can carry a variety of cameras to monitor and reconnoitre the enemy’s territory.

In addition to being applied to the military, paramilitary personnel involved in the anti-communist movement also hoped to conduct in-depth reconnaissance of the jungle with hidden left-wing extremists by using unmanned aerial vehicles. (Translation: Owen)
