Although the housing prices in Beijing and Shanghai have already caused the wage earners to “can’t afford to climb”, this still cannot stop the college students’ yearning for these two cities.
According to the "2016 China Best Employers' Report" released by Zhilian on the 9th, more than half of the key university graduates will use Beijing and Shanghai as their first choice for employment. While Guangzhou and Shenzhen have withdrawn from the top three cities, the attractiveness of new first-tier cities such as Chengdu and Hangzhou is increasing.
Zhaolian’s survey of 20 985 and 211 universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University and Fudan University shows that the ideal job for college students is that they are well-paid, able to learn new things, gain growth and work in accordance with their interests. The ratios were 66.7%, 52.2% and 43.1%, respectively. Well-paid companies are still the first choice for college students, and their expected monthly income for the first job is 5792 yuan.
The data also shows that 75.3% of students choose to work instead of continuing their studies. The types of enterprises that want to find employment are: foreign companies account for 36.6%, state-owned enterprises account for 21.4%, private enterprises account for 18%, institutions account for 11.1%, and government departments account for 7.6%. Among them, there are gender differences in the types of enterprises that want to go to work after graduation. The proportion of girls who are willing to work in foreign companies and institutions is higher than that of boys, and the proportion of private enterprises is lower than that of boys.
In addition, the hukou attributes of students also have an impact on graduates' career choices. Agricultural hukou originators are more likely to go to government departments and institutions than non-agricultural hukou, while the latter are more willing to go to foreign companies.
According to the report, contemporary college students pay more attention to the corporate human environment than their concerns about material interests. “Respecting employees” is the primary characteristic that an ideal employer should have in college students' minds.
With the “Post-90s” college students gradually entering the workplace, the pursuit of more individual, flexible and free life and work style will become a trend.
