US Commerce Secretary Ross announced on May 31 that tariffs of 25% and 10% on steel and aluminum products from the European Union, Canada and Mexico will be imposed from June 1.
According to EU statistics, the US steel and aluminum tariff measures have affected the EU's export products worth about 6.4 billion euros. In order to achieve trade rebalancing, the EU will immediately impose tariff adjustment measures on US products worth 2.8 billion euros, and the trade rebalancing measures for the remaining 3.6 billion euros will be implemented in the future.
