German Wood and Bayer MaterialScience have built the first climate-friendly large-scale chlorine production unit. The 20,000-ton/year-scale chlorine gas production unit was put into operation last week.
The new device uses Wood's cathode technology to increase energy efficiency and significantly reduce power consumption. The two companies also intend to implement the new technology in the global market starting in 2013.
