Adding yeast to anti-dish livestock feed can improve its performance, while adding yeast to pig feed has different effects, which may be affected by other ingredients in the feed.
British researchers added different proportions of yeast and dry whey powder to corn, bean-caked pig feed to form four diets for feeding crossbred pigs. The protein, lysine, metabolizable energy, and calcium of the four diets were combined. The ratio of phosphorus to phosphorus is not much different and is enhanced by vitamins, minerals and antibiotics. The results showed that there was no significant difference in daily gain, feed intake and feed efficiency between the groups, but the daily gain and feed efficiency were highest with high yeast and low whey powder.
The researchers also studied the effect of adding yeast to the feed of piglets containing high crude fiber. They used corn and bean cake as the basis diet, and then added 8% soybean shell and 8% vegetable shell to form two experimental diets. Each diet was added with or without 75% yeast to form 6 experimental groups. The test was divided into two phases, the piglet period of 6 weeks after weaning and the 3 weeks of growth followed. The results showed that the addition of yeast to high-fiber diets did not promote the growth of lactating pigs, and the feed efficiency increased. The high-coarse fiber and high-brown fiber diets added yeast to reduce the feed intake of piglets. In the growing season, the diet and feed efficiency of the high crude fiber diet were significantly reduced. The addition of yeast could alleviate the negative effect of high crude fiber, and the effect of adding yeast to the soybean shell diet was particularly obvious.
