According to reports, microwave heating and conventional heating methods are significantly different, from the macro show that the speed, high efficiency, low reaction temperature and other characteristics, is to replace part of the high energy consumption, high pollution metallurgical process, and promote the metallurgical industry, an effective way to reduce energy consumption one. Through the long-term efforts of researchers from Kunming University of Science and Technology, microwave heating technology has been successfully applied to metallurgy technology.
This technical research has now formed a global leading academic system. The system revolves around the application of microwave heating in metallurgy, integrates metallurgical physical chemistry, chemistry, microwave and other multi-disciplinary resources, quantitatively describes the temperature rising characteristics of metallurgical materials in the microwave field, and creates a full-process model of microwave efficient metallurgical materials drying. The three-dimensional model of strong wave absorption and weak wave absorption materials by microwave calcination was used to derive the non-isothermal kinetics equations of microwave immersed in metallurgical materials, which provided necessary theoretical support for the expansion of microwave heating in the metallurgical field and energy saving. .
At present, the research project has been gradually promoted at home and abroad, and has successively transferred high-level reactors, production lines and related technologies to the National Institute of Carbon Materials, Spain, Kunming Iron and Steel Group and other units. According to relevant statistics, the promotion of the project has added a total of nearly 1 billion yuan in production value.
It is reported that the research group is still continuing to apply microwave heating to the nuclear industry.
