When the battery of the diesel generator set has not been used for a long time, it must be properly charged before use to ensure the normal capacity of the battery. (The actual capacity of the battery can be detected by a hydrometer.) Normal operation and charging will cause some water in the battery to be evaporated. This requires frequent rehydration of the battery. Before rehydration, the dirt around the filling port should be cleaned first to prevent it. Drop into the battery compartment, then open the filling port, add the appropriate amount of distilled water or purified water, do not overfill (based on the battery plate scale), otherwise, the battery inside the diesel engine when discharging / charging It will emerge from the overflow hole of the filling port, causing corrosion damage to surrounding objects and the environment.
Avoid battery starting at low temperature, battery capacity will not be output normally in low temperature environment, and long-term discharge may cause battery failure (cracking or explosion).
The battery of the standby generator set should be periodically charged and maintained, and can be equipped with a floating charger.
It is understood that diesel generator battery maintenance has tips:
1. Wipe the outside of the battery with a damp cloth, and wipe off the dust, oil, white powder, etc. on the panel and on the pile head (ie, the positive and negative poles). This often scrubs the battery, the pile head of the battery will not accumulate white acid-etched powder, and its service life will be longer.
2. Open the battery and add water cover to see if the water level is in the normal position. Generally, there are upper and lower marks on the side of the battery for your reference. If the water level is found to be lower than the subscript line, distilled water must be added. If distilled water is not available, the tap water can be filtered to respond. Water can't be added too much, the standard is added to the middle of the upper and lower markings.
3. Check if the battery is charging properly. If you have a three-meter meter, after starting the engine, it is normal to measure the voltage of the two poles of the battery, which must exceed 13V. If the charging voltage is too low, you need to ask the professional to check the charging system. If there is no three-meter, you can use the visual method: after the engine is started, open the battery and add water cover to see if there is any bubble in each cell. The normal situation is that there are constantly bubbles coming out of the water, and the more you get more fuel, the more you will smoke; if you find that there is no bubbling, it is likely that the charging system is faulty. It is especially important to note that hydrogen is generated during this test, so do not smoke during the test to avoid the risk of explosion and fire.
