Prof. Guo Guangcan, a professor at the University of Science and Technology of China and a key laboratory of the Quantum Information Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has made new progress in the field of new quantum bit coding. For the first time, the research team and collaborators of Guo Guoping successfully implemented a new type of electronically controlled encoding qubits with good coherence characteristics, fast manipulation speed, and strong controllability in gallium arsenide semiconductor quantum chips. Like modern computers, "quantum chips" are the "brains" of future quantum computers. The development of electronically controlled quantum chips compatible with modern semiconductor processes is one of the important directions for the development of quantum computers. The research group is devoted to the development of semiconductor quantum chips, implementing ultra-fast quantum computing roadmaps along charge-coded qubits, and implementing charge-coded ultrafast universal single-qubit logic gates [Nature Communications 4, 1401 (2013)] and Based on the two-qubit control non-logic gates [Nature Communications 6, 7681 (2015)], we continue to explore new methods for extending the coherence time of the charge-coded bits. We can obtain the spin-encoded quantum while guaranteeing the fast operating speed of quantum bits. Bits have the same long coherence property, which realizes quantum bit ultrafast control and long coherence time, thereby solving the core problem of performing quantum manipulation as much as possible in the bit coherence time.
The research group used the asymmetrical nature of semiconductor quantum dots in multi-electronic state orbits for the first time to realize new hybrid qubits in gallium arsenide semiconductor systems, subtly supercharging quantum qubits and spin qubits. The coherence of long coherence makes it possible to achieve a combination of "fish" (ultra-fast control) and "bear-shoulder" (long coherence). The experimental results show that the novel qubits are similar to the charge qubits and can realize ultra-fast quantum flipping from 0 to 1 in hundreds of picoseconds. However, the quantum coherence is nearly ten times higher than that of ordinary charge-coded qubits.
The novel multi-electron orbital hybridization has a strong universality in the way of realizing quantum bit encoding and regulation, and is applicable not only to the Group III semiconductors, but also to a series of semiconductors such as silicon germanium and even novel semiconductors such as graphene and TMDS. At the same time, this work provides new ideas for exploring the effects of polar phonons and piezoelectric effects on quantum coherence properties in semiconductors.
